Ex Div Date
What about the money for dividends if an underlying stock is sold at between exdiv and day of recording?

I own a small amount of TCLP. The company was ex-Div. Yesterday (4 / 28)) and the record date is tomorrow (30/04). Today there was a large volume. It is especially beneficial for companies for people to give up its dividend (in this case a distribution) Why are investors doing this (is there a strategy I'm missing here? Is there a line in the annual or quarterly reports that these savings can be found?

Dividends are paid to who owns the share at the close of Trading after hours of April 27, buy / sell activity yesterday or today is irrelevant.
